Roco's training programs will assist rescuers and their employers in staying updated, prepared and compliant. But it's not just about standards. For more than 28 years, Roco has continued to advance its training methods in order to produce the most proficient rescuers possible.

In addition to keeping emergency responders updated on the latest regulations, our rescue programs are a careful mix of best-known practices, experienced instructors and an open mind to innovative techniques and equipment. Roco's confined space and rope rescue certification program, which is based on the guidelines of NFPA 1006 (a professional qualifications national consensus standard), provides documentation of skills proficiency as required by OSHA's 1910.146 Permit-Required Confined Space regulation.

Revised and expanded standards:

NFPA 1006 Professional Qualifications Standard for Rescue Technicians (pending 2007 edition) includes additional skills for rescue technicians such as: acting as a litter tender for low angle rescue; ascending a fixed rope 20 ft; functioning as a litter tender in a high angle lowering or hauling system; and directing a team in the removal of a suspended victim in a high-angle environment.
ANSI Z359 Fall Protection Standard has been expanded. One of the top-four causes of on-the-job fatalities are fall hazards. In 2007, The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) announced approval of its new Z359 Fall Arrest Code. Two sections of the code directly affect hands-on training for workers: Z359.2 Minimum Requirements for a Comprehensive Managed Fall Protection Program and Z359.4 Safety Requirements for Assisted-Rescue and Self-Rescue Systems, Subsystems and Components.

Early registration applies to payments received at least 30 days prior to course; advanced payment is required for all courses. Government discount applies to municipal, state and federal agencies. Sales/Service Tax may apply in certain areas. Cancellation/Rescheduling Fee: $100/person; no refund with less than 30-days notice. Dates, times and locations are subject to change. Minimum enrollments are required. Roco is responsible for refund of registration fees only. Students must be 18 or older and physically capable of performing strenuous activity.

Petzl EXO End User Training

Hours: 10
Prerequisites: Active-duty Fire Service Personnel Only

NOTICE: This is a physically demanding course. Acknowledgement of fitness and waiver of liability must be submitted with application.

The system of choice for FDNY, the Petzl EXO Personal Escape system provides firefighters with a fast, reliable means of escape when using a conventional exit is no longer possible. A firefighter trained and equipped with the EXO system can quickly deploy the unique anchor and rope, then move rapidly toward an egress point and descend to a lower level.

Roco is certified by Petzl as a qualified EXO trainer.

NOTE: Petzl requires students to successfully complete the Petzl EXO End-User class prior to purchasing the system. Units will be available for purchase at the end of the class.
