This litter is designed for use in mass casualty incidents where large numbers of people must be evacuated. Haz-Mat Decontaminatable (HMD) Skeds can be stored and shipped on pallets of 50 to 200 per pallet. Straps are disposable polypropylene and the HMD Sked can be 100% decontaminated.
The HMD Sked is extremely versatile. It can be dragged over virtually any terrain including stairways. It requires less effort from rescuers wearing Level A protection. A rope is attached to the tow strap of the HMD Sked for towing out of the Hot Zone by rescuers at decon, which saves energy and precious air for the Level A rescuer. This results in many more victims being saved.
