Basic Life Support for Prehospital Providers (8-hrs)

Roco now offers basic life support (BLS) training for prehospital emergency care professionals such as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), Paramedics, Firefighters, Police Officers and First Responders.

This training will emphasize the importance of high-quality chest compressions, delivering appropriate ventilations, importance of early AED use, and recognizing several life-threatening emergencies. Students will participate in simulated clinical scenarios, BLS skill practice, BLS skills testing, and complete a written exam.

Our instructors will provide insight to medical considerations through experience gained working as nationally registered paramedics and critical care flight paramedics.

Course Topics:

• High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
• Chain of Survival for BLS components
• Proper use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Ventilations with a protective barrier device and Bag valve mask

First Aid/CPR/AED Training (5 to 7-hrs)

This training is designed to provide hands-on instruction in First Aid, CPR and AED for those requiring these skills as part of their job assignment and particularly those who work in industrial environments. Participants will learn critical skills necessary to provide basic first aid for medical, environmental and traumatic injuries. They will also receive training for assisting choking victims and response to cardiac arrest of adult patients.

This course uses a “Practice While Watching” technique that allows for extensive hands on training and frees the instructor to observe students and give instant feedback during the learning process. It includes classroom, video-based and instructor led training with a written exam.

Our instructors will provide insight to medical considerations through experience gained working as nationally registered paramedics and critical care flight paramedics.

Roco’s First Aid/CPR/AED training (initial training or refresher) can be included as a follow-on day to rescue training or during rescue refresher sessions. These added training options can also be included as part of a two-year Rescue Technician certification/recertification program.

Course Topics:

• Basic First Aid techniques
• Response and basic treatment for medical, environmental, and traumatic injuries
• CPR techniques recommended by the American Heart Association
• Proper use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Optional training includes CPR for child and infant, AED use for child
